Admission to the College

New Undergraduate Admission Requirements (effective 2009-2010)

Attention Prospective Students
UCF College of Nursing has amended its admission and application requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. These changes are effective for students under the 2009-2010 undergraduate catalog. Students who enter UCF in Summer 2009 or later will be held accountable to these new requirements.

Separate admission application required
Admission is highly competitive. The BSN is an upper-division (junior-senior level), limited-access major. Declaring nursing as your major does not automatically guarantee admission into the nursing program, nor does it enable you to take upper-division nursing courses. Candidates must apply separately to the College of Nursing. Students who are selected for admission will receive an acceptance letter from the College of Nursing.

New minimum application requirements (2009-2010)
These minimum requirements apply to all students entering UCF as of Summer 2009 or later:

  • Acceptance to UCF (Applicants who are not already enrolled at UCF must also submit an application to the university by the nursing program deadline—refer to UCF’s undergraduate catalog for requirements).

  • Overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (meeting this minimum GPA requirement does not guarantee acceptance into the program).

  • Complete seven of the nine nursing prerequisites (Chemistry with lab, plus two additional courses from Group A and any other four prerequisite courses) by the application deadline; any remaining prerequisites must be completed before the program start date.

  • Complete Chemistry with lab and remaining Group A courses with a grade of “B-” (2.75) or better; and complete the Group B courses with a grade of “C” (2.0) or better (if you do not meet these minimum grade requirements, you will need to retake the respective course until you meet the grade requirement).

  • Pass the standardized Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) with a composite score of 74% or above. For more information on the TEAS® test, review ATI's Student Roadmap or download a brochure.

  • Attend one of the college's mandatory information sessions prior to submitting a nursing program application. Click here to register.
